Iphoneglass

…but I can’t do a damn thing till I get the tools. I ordered them and they should have arrived… except that the Amazon 3rd-party dealer, which Amazon not only lists but vaults to the highest spot and automatically presents above all other dealers, screwed me over. A day and a half after I ordered, they mysteriously canceled the order. No reason given, and they still advertise the part. I had to re-order, and am now delayed because of the first dealer.

Is it possible that they saw I gave a negative response to another dealer who screwed me over and canceled for that reason? As far as I can tell, I am now unable to even give an unfavorable rating to this dealer as there was no actual purchase.

That’s really odd that they cancelled your order. They might be momentarily out of stock and couldn’t be bothered to remove their listing.
Maybe get a colleague to order it again in his name, then see what happens.

Ken: nope. Their pages still have multiple listings and report being in stock. They initially accepted the order, and gave no notice of being out of stock or having a delayed listing. Just an unexplained cancellation, via Amazon, no info at all. If they were out of stock, then Amazon should drop them for bad business practices.

After discovering a half-dozen alternate sellers “underneath” the one featured seller, I ordered from the alternate–but it’s a delay that has set me back.

Do they ship internationally? Maybe they saw your address in Japan and said, “Naah!”.

This was via the Amazon.co.jp site, so I’m pretty sure that had nothing to do with it.

If they cancel orders repeatedly they will be put on notice and eventually suspended by Amazon, they take this stuff seriously.

Alex: good to know. Hopefully it was just a snafu and I got the short end, but I was the only one. But it still means that I’ll have a broken phone for two extra days when I should be repairing it right now…

WOW, did I just get ROYALLY screwed. I finally got the tool kit, and everything looked copacetic. I spent an HOUR taking apart my iPhone, which is now in about 40 pieces on my desk. I put the new screen in place… AND IT DOESN’T FIT. THEY SENT ME THE WRONG PART.

It’s a very subtle difference–two screw brackets on the new screen are in the wrong locations by about 1/4 inch. I checked the seller page, and nothing I could see said anything about specific carriers, and it was an iPhone 4 (not 4S) part.

Not only that, when I checked back on the seller’s page for the part, the CORRECT part is shown in the photo. They just completely screwed me over.

Aside from not having a phone for several days, I can only HOPE that the phone is not irreparably damaged by staying in pieces for that long (adhesives, battery issues, diet contamination, etc.).

And on top of that, I face the possibility of Amazon and/or the seller giving me some BS reason why it’s all my fault or they have to wait two weeks or something. Already, it’s past closing time, and so I have to wait until tomorrow for any hope of contact.

Hopefully, though, Amazon will realize they screwed up and move like crazy to get me what I was supposed to get. Hopefully.

    The original part:

    The advertised part:

    What they sent me:

Note the braces circled in red.

Arrgghhhh. I swear, I cannot get through ONE build or repair without SOME seller completely rogering me, but good.

    Son of a…

Calling around, I found one helpful repair shop that told me the problem: they sent me the glass panel for the iPhone 4*S*, not the iPhone 4. Despite everything marked “iPhone 4”–the web page, the order details, the packing slip… even the label on the box.

I am trying to get a new part, but don’t know if I can trust these jokers.
