Shinjuku Backstreets

June 6th, 2003

A little lull in blogging, due to a heavy work schedule. Here’s a nice image, though, of a Shinjuku (East side) back street just before sunset.

That’s a really beautiful picture. Depending on what part of the picture you look it, it could be morning, dusk, or night in Tokyo, Brugge, or Rome. Fantastic light.

Thanks, Morgan. At the time of sunset, the sun just happened to be streaming down all the east-west roads, and it was just above the clouds gathered above the horizon. Perfect lighting for the shot, the kind of thing you see sometimes and say to yourself, “I wish I had my camera right now.” Which is why I always try to have a camera with me. The trees made the shot complete, too.

Gotta love those digital cameras; the size, ease of use, perfect transfer to computers and no cost for film or developing, it all frees you up.
