Birds from the Past

February 27th, 2005

I remembered that I have done some bird photography in the past, when distance was not such a big problem. I was able to find three new (old, really) bird photos; there was one more, of a Rufous Turtle Dove which perched on my dining room window’s flower shelf, but for some reason I couldn’t find it in my records. But here are the others:

First, as a complement to the Lesser Egret from yesterday, an Intermediate Egret (not really imaginative names, are they?) from when I visited Shinjuku Gyouen Park in October of 2000:

The next month, when I went to the Imperial Palace here in Tokyo, I photographed a Black Swan (along with some Tufted Ducks, not pictured) in the moat.

And finally, in June of 2002, I snapped some Mandarin Ducks in Inogashira Park:

And though many people wouldn’t think to include them, there are pigeons, and if you’ve been reading my blog for some time, you know I got a very long, good look at two of them being raised on my balcony last year. So including the pigeons, that’s twenty species on the list so far (not counting the Kingfisher and the Turtle Dove).
