August Release for Fahrenheit 9/11 in Japan
June 17th, 2004
I just got off the phone with the people at Gaga-Humax, the Japan distributor for Fahrenheit 9/11 (Japanese title: “華氏911”). They say that while they have not decided on an exact date, the film will be released in Japan sometime during August. Their office (03-3589-7416) says that a specific release date will be decided sometime in the next week or two. When I learn of it, and which theaters it will show at in Tokyo, I will let you know.
Luis, I posted a blurb about your post here to the Democrats Abroad Japan (DAJ) list so don’t be too alarmed if you see a small spurt in accesses to your blog. I mentioned they could check back here for the actual theatres, etc.
Tokyo info wouldn’t help me much living out near Nara here, but I assume I’ll be able to find out soon enough from somewhere where the film is playing. And I hope it’s in more theatres than Lost in Translation was…
Ron:
You can call Gaga’s Nagoya office if you like. Their phone number is 052-571-1221. Edit: sorry, you said “Nara,” not “Nagoya.” The Osaka office is at 06-6341-2181.
Gaga contact list page.
Thanks. Actually, their Osaka number (06-6341-2181) would be better for me. I know the location of their office too, actually. I’ll ask my wife to give them a call today sometime (my Japanese still sucks).
By the way, Ron, do you know what happened to the DAJ Blog? It’s been empty for some time…
I’d like to extend an invitation to anyone who might like to blog to become a poster–regular or otherwise–at The Expat. We have three members now, and would like to grow–but I didn’t want to crowd in and ask DAJ members while that blog was going, I didn’t want to seem like I was stealing contributors away…
I just recently joined DAJ myself, but apparently near the middle to end of May they changed to a new address for the DAJ blog. Simple registration is required to post.
I’m still wondering what’s the different between the blog and the Yahoo mailing list. Seems to be some overlap to me. The mailing list is much more active.
You can also save off for future reference (if you don’t already have them) the main websites for Democrats Abroad and Democrats Abroad Japan. I doubt you’d be able to post anything to either of these, though, regarding the Expat site, but one never knows.
When will it come to Hokkaido?
Quick question are you an american living in japan or are you japanese because if you are the latter why are you commenting on our politcs instead of worring about your own if you are the first why did you move japan?
Thanks, Joslyn a concerned American citizen
I am a proud American citizen. I moved to Japan because of a job opportunity, after an initial fascination with the language and culture. Given an equal choice, I would choose to live in the U.S., which does not mean I don’t enjoy Japan greatly.
Why are you concerned?
