Saw this on the subway yesterday:

Mcad 01

Apparently McCalories Japan is doing an American-themed burger campaign for the first three months of 2010, starting with a “Texas” burger. What makes it Texan? From what I can tell, BBQ sauce. Unless the second tier of bacon and onions is somehow uniquely Texan, though of course the whole thing is just a gimmick.

Next up: New York, BLT on a burger with Monterey Jack cheese; California, same as the New York, but with a “wine” sauce; and Hawaiian, apparently being bacon, cheese, and lettuce below the patty, egg with gravy on top.

Yeah, I know.

    actually the bacon and onion thing is something of a specialty of Texas BBQ, like say Armadillo Willys.

    Carl’s had the Western Bacon Cheeseburger back in the day, same thing.

    There are times in Korea, where I would pay just about anything for access to that kind of hamburger.

    There are NO big burgers in Korea.

    None.

    McDonalds, Burger King, only has small patty burgers: the generic cheese burger or double cheeseburgers but no thick burgers. You can get a whopper, but it’s a thin burger, even if it is bigger.

    Same is true for the few, more specialized, burger outfits.

    I often have dreams of a nice thick burger – any burger. Even a McDonalds quarter pounder.

    @Tim

    LOL. I remember around 5 months in, going to McD’s and getting TWO Big Macs. I never ate Big Macs in the states, and don’t know, but damn if I didn’t need some BEEF.

    Hamburger from the store was damn expensive, making my own would be like an hour’s wages :)

    I was in Rome a few years back and the various McDonalds of the area were proudly advertising the Destination Texas McMenu TEXAS. It was more oval shaped burger smothered in BBQ sauce and bacon served with wedge fries. Needless to say, having traveled there from the USA, I was laughing really hard.
