FISA Judge Resigns in Protest Over Bush Violations

The Washington Post is reporting that FISA judge James Robertson, appointed by Rehnquist to the 11-member panel to issue warrants for eavesdropping under the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), resigned in protest over Bush’s 30 authorizations to conduct thousands of illegal wiretaps. Robertson had privately voiced concerns over what Bush did, and apparently felt that Bush made his panel into a Potemkin Court, a sham.
