Oh, Great
I’m starting to get hotlinking from a new angle. Over time, I have taken pictures of cats and posted them here. The problem: there now seems to be a surge in the number of people and web sites where a cat-themed role-playing game, with feline “Warriors,” and everyone seems to be linking to my images of cats.
I swear, people like this ruin the web for everyone. Now I can’t post images of cats unless I want to be used by these people. There are way too many different sites on different domains to block effectively.
Anyone know what this whole feline role-playing thing is all about?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but have you tried the anti-hotlinking thing in the control panel of your webhosting account? Most of the hosting services I’ve seen/used have had some kind of protection in there. I don’t know if it’s worth a da**, but if you haven’t tried it maybe it’s worth a shot.
Also, when I go to post a comment, I get an error message… but the comment does make it through.
Why not just store your pictures on flickr and link to them that way?
Paul: Another problem on the list to iron out. What error message does it give? Next time you see it, could you copy and paste it into a new comment? Thanks!
JimH: That might work OK for posts after now, but before now I have as many as 3000 images that almost a thousand posts link to. Uploading them all to FlickR would be tough enough, but then going into each and every post to remake the links would be a nightmare. Had I foreseen this problem five years ago and worked toward your solution then, it would have worked. But then, I don’t even think Flicker was around then.
