Farenheit 911

May 16th, 2003

Here we go again with conservatives trying to smother all dissenting voices. Michael Moore is producing a new film called “Farenheit 911,” a film reportedly focusing on the ties between the Bush and bin Laden families. Disney, only a few days after picking up the film (via Miramax) after Mel Gibson dumped it, is already the target of massive conservative publicity and mail-in campaigns, threatening to boycott and smear the company if it dares allow Moore a voice.

Go Disney. And boo to Gibson for chickening out.

good for disney…even though they threatened to back out at first. i think this film could shed a lot of light onto what people think is right for this country and its inhabitants. controversial? yes, im sure it is. truthful? im sure it is also. i hope it hits the conservative side with a distinct stinging feeling. those people who support blowin up countries halfway around the world but are scared that the truth be released need to see more films of this nature….may knowledge reign supreme.

It seems to me that this movie is more an exposing of poor leadership than it is anti-conservative or pro-liberal. Liberals and conservatives alike can (should) oppose the Bush administration’s policies and actions concerning the Iraq invasion, war on terrorism, and international relations, all without betraying their respective parties. Simply, Bush’s leadership abilities and decision-making skills are terrible and our country is worse-off for it. Liberals and conservatives should acknowledge this and take the necessary steps to change matters solemnly, with neither glee nor malice, for the betterment of our nation. No one should put his/her political party’s interests ahead of that of our country.

people should decide what they would do if they were alive when the native American’s were being killed, Africans were being used as slaves, black people treated as inferiors. For that matter if they were in germany in the tme of Hitler what would they have done. If they don’t want to be continuing the errors of history, they must encourage and be open to voices of dissent. To be a true patriot, a true American, and in fact a true human being they must observe their own behavior and the collective behavior of groups they are affiliated with a evaluative eye. This is all the Michael Moores, of this country are asking. What are we doing wrong and how can we change it. True patriots must question authority. True patriots should view this film of dissent with an open mind

I absolutely agree that we should be able to question authority, but we must do it with integrity and honorable purpose. Moore claims his film is a documentary. The film exercises selective editing to further his viewpoint and agenda. It is full of innuendos. In other words, it is pure propaganda. It should be taken as such. In hindsight, our money would be better spent donated to our favorite charity. Better yet, donate the time you would have spent to go watch the movie, to your favorite charity. A couple of hours will do wonders for your community and your soul.

I suggest that everyone check out http://www.9-11commission.gov, the official 911 Commission website. We should all do our own homework and come to our own conclusions. Don’t let anyone fool you by his or her rhetoric and conspiracy theories. These people are the true “Misleaders.”

While we prepare for the election, let us remember that there is a myriad of issues that affect our daily lives. Let’s hear from both sides before committing our votes. Emotional decisions have a tendency to get us in trouble. When we go to the polls, let us be levelheaded, because we will have to live with our decision for the next four years. Let’s not jump out of the frying pan into the fire.

I just finished watching Farenheit 9.11 and it is by far the most disturbing piece of film I’ve watched since seeing the Holocaust films in History class. I’m not naive; but certainly had not considered the possibility that the people involved in the 9.11 attacks could be “in bed” with our president and his family at such an intimiate level. I am horrified at what is considered acceptable behavior to the president and his posse, interestingly enough, if you or I work for 99% of the corporations in this country we would have signed a contract that would allow for immediate termination if any ONE SINGLE ACTION of the many taken by this administration. I am a mother of two, a wife, a daughter, a sister, an employee, a friend, an American, a Patriot, a supporter of the individuals currently in Iraq fighting for our right to live the way we all do, but most of all I am someone who feels incredibly betrayed by a man who stole the presidency, lied to the people he’s supposed to represent to the world, cheated to get out of personally having to fight so many years ago…Basically Bush is a LIAR, CHEATER AND A THEIF!!!! At this point, EVEN Steve Forbes starts looking good for the job—boring and not at all flashy; but would run it like a business which might be a refreshing idea….DUHHHHHH!

God Help us if John Kerry doesn’t win…
