Glenn Beck Inadvertently Accuses Rupert Murdoch of Collapsing America.
Jon Stewart Reports, You Decide.

Pure comedic brilliance. It wouldn’t be as funny if Beck weren’t so ironic in his characterization of George Soros, it being a far more apt and accurate description of Rupert Murdoch. Stewart starts from there and creates a classic. It’s worth it just for the random way the puppets hit Stewart.

And yet 2.3M people watched GB’s show last night.

That’s 6% of the vote this time. If you can mindfuck 2M people, you’re doing pretty good.

While I appreciate Jon’s general willingness to take on Beck, I think we’re missing the bigger picture here.

We see it with GK’s posts here — there’s a conscious effort to just character assassinate and bullshit everything all to hell.

Media Matters, Source Watch, these are the thin reeds that the “left” (ie center) is holding onto against the forces of BS from the right.

How many people in this country actually understand the structure of the right wing propaganda machinery — Kochs, Mellon-Scaife, Coors — the “foundations” aka propaganda mills they’ve created — PNAC, Heritage, AEI, Manhattan, Cato, Reason — the organizations they’ve captured — the “U.S.” Chamber of Commerce.

This is pretty scary stuff. The right is coming after the welfare state, and they’re marshaling their forces for 2012. The Dems will probably lose the Senate (there are 16 Dem seats and 3 Rep seats in play), and if the next two years are like Japan’s 90s I think Obama will be booted out just like Carter was in 80. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_1980

Goodbye mandate / insurance subsidies for poor people. Goodbye medicare. Goodbye social security trust fund surplus.

The endgame of Norquist’s “drown the gov’t in the bathtub” will be at hand. Be glad you’re in Japan, though I don’t know how bad the US is going to bring down our partners, maybe that’s not far enough away.

Glenn Beck is such an Ass Clown that he’s pretty funny even without Stewart’s parody.
