Right-Wing Tough Love for America
July 21st, 2009
This is Fox News Patriotism: defame and kill American soldiers, and get bin Laden to massacre American citizens.
“… if he walked away from his post and his buddies in wartime, I don’t care how hard it sounds, as far as I’m concerned the Taliban can save us a lot of legal hassles and a lot of legal bills.”
“… The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States.”
Support the Troops. Country First. But only if we’re in power. Otherwise, let it burn.

“the only chance…” Imagine such words when Bush was president? They’d burn them alive at stake for unpatriotism!
Yeah, that’s the thing–out of power, they start acting like what they accused Democrats of but Democrats never did. The problem is, one gets so tired of *every time* pointing out that (1) they’re being hypocrites and (2) IOKIYAR (It’s OK If You’re A Republican). It just happens ALL the time now. From filibusters to criticizing the president during wartime/when he’s abroad, from blocking female/Hispanic judges to resigning for sex scandals, from who’s to blame for recessions to taking vacations, so forth and so on…. the list is very long; essentially the Republicans are violating every rule, principle, and forbidden activity they once (and often still do) excoriated Democrats for, and do so brazenly and unapologetically.
What you say is 100% true and relevant. Had a Democrat said, during Bush’s term when a soldier was kidnapped, “it looks to me like he was a bad soldier, the kidnappers should just kill the guy, and save us paperwork,” absolutely the right-wing would have gone into utter flaming hysterics.
