700th Day, and I’m on iTunes

July 2nd, 2005

Today is the 700th day in a row that I’ve blogged, no breaks. August 2nd will be the 2-year anniversary for nonstop blogging.

On a side note, the iTunes Music Store has finally recognized the audio blog. Do a search in Podcasts in iTunes for “Blogd” and you’ll find it. As I mentioned before, it’s just a dorky little trial recording, so don’t expect to be blown away.

Now to tune up the RSS feed to get the details straight (and by this I’ll find out how fast the iTMS updates its listings via the RSS feed), and then record a real podcast. Or at least try to.

Sometimes, you have to get away from the Internet, the Web, the Blogosphere and enjoy and techno-void day.

If one wants to listen to your podcast on a computer, w/o and ipod, exactly what do they do?

When I make a real podcast, I’ll post a link to it on this blog. In the meantime, you can use iTunes to subscribe to my feed. Just open iTunes (download it if you don’t have it already, it’s available for both Windows and Mac), click on “Podcasts” and then enter “BlogD” into the search box. That’ll get you the feed, to which you can subscribe or just listen that once. No iPod necessary.

    Randy:

Nah, I’m fine with it. I’m not complaining as much as bragging. And I have dodges, too. For example, I can blog after midnight one night and then not have to blog again until late the evening after the following day, essentailly getting two days without writing. Or sometimes (though less and less, recently) if I want I could blog only one or two paragraphs, a quickie. When I travel and have to pass date lines and all, I’ll type ahead and even post in advance. And I suppose I could do the same when not traveling: type several blog entries in advance, then just release them over the span of days.

But I don’t really get tired of this. There are times when it gets a bit much, like recently, when I dug myself into getting really detailed about how to do a podcast, did a minimum wage piece that turned out a lot longer than I expected, and then got ambushed by the O’Connor announcement and felt motivated to write about it immediately. But those times don’t come along very often.

What about getting an ipod w/ a mic and then speak into it on the train, and then upload it when you get home?

No, first it would be too noisy, second they prohibit phones on the train for the specific reason of keeping things quiet, and theird I wouldn’t want to do it so casually.
