… If He Can’t Take a Joke

July 21st, 2009

United States Senator Jon Kyl, (R-AZ) on Obama yesterday:

“In the earliest days, he reached out in a bipartisan way to secure passage of administration priorities … [b]ut the administration has become increasingly partisan in the months since then.”

Yeah, imagine that. The president started out by bending over backwards to be bipartisan. How silly of him to stop doing that only because Republicans slapped away his extended hand of cooperation and then tried repeatedly to punch him in the gut. What’s wrong with Obama, anyway?

Benen points out that Obama is still reaching out. My guess is that Kyl just wants him to be reaching out in the naive way he did at first so that Republicans can slap him down harder.
