Kerry’s “Top 10 Bush Tax Proposals”

September 21st, 2004

Read by Kerry on “Late Night with David Letterman.”

10. No estate tax for families with at least two U.S. presidents.

9. W-2 Form is now Dubya-2 Form.

8. Under the simplified tax code, your refund check goes directly to Halliburton.

7. The reduced earned income tax credit is so unfair, it just makes me want to tear out my lustrous, finely groomed hair.

6. Attorney General (John) Ashcroft gets to write off the entire U.S. Constitution.

5. Texas Rangers can take a business loss for trading Sammy Sosa.

4. Eliminate all income taxes; just ask Teresa (Heinz Kerry) to cover the whole damn thing.

3. Cheney can claim Bush as a dependent.

2. Hundred-dollar penalty if you pronounce it “nuclear” instead of “nucular.”

1. George W. Bush gets a deduction for mortgaging our entire future.

I saw on another blog that you figure that the 7 million American expatriots could have a big impact on the election. As I am pulling for Kerry this go around, I took heart from it.

But then it occurs to me that the bulk of expatriots are probably voting in Blue states anyway, except for maybe FLA where many live in Israel, but they are more likely to go for Bush in that case. So you are right, 7 million is a serious number and likely to fall Kerry’s way, but you are probably wrong in thinking it will affect the election favorably for Kerry. Wrong, unfortunately. Hopefully I will be wrong.

An as big or bigger undercounted group might be the youth vote and maybe combined with expatriots, these unpolled groups might affect the election favorably for Kerry. If I am under 29, I’m looking at Iraq and thinking either Bush cuts and runs or he implements a draft. If he has control of congress, as he now does nothing could stop him from doing so. So most young people should vote Kerry. Then even if a draft were to come along, it would be thuroughly debated and is likely to be more justly, more competantly and morally executed for real needs instead of fictional needs.
