Who’s There?

May 7th, 2005

The feeder I set up outside my window is really for the smaller birds, and usually, because it’s intended to be hung from a high place, only small birds should be able to reach it. But the structure of the building outside my windows–solid concrete with no hooks or other purchase–doesn’t allow for hanging things, so I had to jury-rig a fastening along the bottom of the feeder, setting it atop the clamps that hold my satellite dish in place. But that also means the bigger birds can reach it–as you can see in this photo, with an Oriental Turtledove (Kijihato • キジハト) enjoying some seed while a somewhat apprehensive Tree Sparrow looks on.
