Surge Surge

In a strategy to avoid oversight and Democratic as well as Republican opposition, Bush has already begun his “Surge” in Iraq, even before his official announcement today. Clearly he does not want this to be subject to Congressional approval. He will send the troops in first, so that if Congress doesn’t allow the money, Bush will claim that Democrats are taking money away from troops already in the field.
